This coming Sunday, 28 May, it will be Pentecost Sunday.  To celebrate this unprecedented event in the history of mankind, we have prepared an essay from Prof W.J. Hattingh that he had presented at Auckland Park Theological Seminary during the one-day seminar on the Holy Spirit in October 2016.

The essay will unfold as follows:

  • First, a discussion of the two serious misconceptions that hinder our understanding of the working of the Holy Spirit.
  • A Biblical alternative of the Holy Spirit and His work, with examples from the Old Testament.
  • A brief look at the magnificent promise made in Joel 2.
  • Introduction of an important Hermeneutic (interpretation) key to guide our understanding of the work of the Holy Spirit.
  • The working of the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ ministry.
  • The conclusion with three truths we cannot disregard with regard to the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

You can listen to an audio recording of the article, watch a video of the article being read, or read it yourself
